The Reason

The reason behind The Faithful Surrender is a simple one: to take the Gospel to the hurting. Though surrender to Christ is not always easy, it is important to have faith, trusting and knowing that the Lord is going to provide, deliver, restore, and heal—thus, The Faithful Surrender. The Faithful Surrender will publish devotionals weekly that will focus on ways we can grow closer to Jesus and reside in a posture of surrender to Him.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
– Luke 9:23 –

A solitary wooden cross, crafted from weathered, splintered beams, stands firmly planted on the crest of a gentle hill covered in soft, dew-laden grass. Behind it, a vast horizon stretches beneath a sky transitioning from night to dawn, with deep blues melting into warm pinks and golds. The first rays of golden hour sunlight wrap the cross in rim lighting, creating a subtle halo effect and casting a long, contemplative shadow down the slope. Photographic realism, composed using the rule of thirds with a wide-angle lens, emphasizes openness, surrender, and hope, while distant mountains rest in soft focus, conveying a sense of journey and growing closer to Jesus through yielded trust.

Meet The Writer

Dylan Baker is an imperfect follower of Christ.

A well-worn leather Bible with softly creased pages lies open on a simple wooden table, a delicate brass cross bookmark resting in the center fold. Around it, a plain ceramic mug of herbal tea releases a faint wisp of steam beside a small spiral-bound journal and a neatly arranged pen. Soft morning sunlight streams through an unseen window, creating gentle highlights on the Bible’s gilded page edges and casting long, peaceful shadows across the grain of the wood. Photographic realism, shot at eye level with a shallow depth of field, keeps the open Scripture in sharp focus while the background fades into a warm, creamy blur, evoking quiet devotion, surrender, and reflective spiritual growth.
